Terms of Use

The rules of the road for using Chat Web, written in plain English. Last updated: 23 August 2026.

The agreement

1. Who We Are and What This Is

Chat Web ("we", "us", "the network") operates the website chat-web.co.uk and the live chat rooms available through it (together, "the Service"). By accessing or using the Service — including entering any chat room as a guest — you agree to these Terms of Use, our Community Guidelines, and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the Service.

2. You Must Be 18 or Older

The Service is strictly for adults. By using it, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, if higher). Age confirmation is required at entry to every room. Providing a false date of birth or otherwise misrepresenting your age is a material breach of these Terms and will result in immediate removal and a ban. If you believe someone using the Service is under 18, report it to a moderator or contact us immediately.

3. Guest Access and Nicknames

The Service works on guest access: you choose a nickname and enter, without creating an account. You're responsible for the activity carried out under any nickname you use during a session. Nicknames must not impersonate other people (including moderators or staff), must not be offensive or misleading, and remain subject to the Community Guidelines. We don't reserve nicknames between sessions and can't guarantee any nickname's availability.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service lawfully and in line with the Community Guidelines, which form part of these Terms. In particular, you must not use the Service to: break any applicable law; harass, threaten, or abuse anyone; post or transmit content that is illegal, that sexualises minors in any way, or that infringes anyone's rights; share another person's private information without their consent; send spam, advertising, or solicitations; attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or interfere with its operation; or use bots, scrapers, or automated tools on the Service without our written permission.

5. Your Content

Everything you type, broadcast, or share on the Service is your content and your responsibility. You keep whatever rights you have in it; by sharing it on the Service you grant us a non-exclusive licence to transmit, display, and (where applicable) store it as needed to operate and moderate the Service. We don't claim ownership of your conversations. You confirm that your content doesn't infringe anyone else's rights and that you have the right to share it.

6. Moderation, Suspension and Bans

The rooms are actively moderated by humans. We may remove content, mute, disconnect, suspend, or ban any user, at our discretion and without prior notice, where we reasonably believe these Terms or the Community Guidelines have been breached — or where it's necessary to protect users or the Service. Bans may be applied by nickname, device, connection, or other reasonable means. If you believe a moderation decision was wrong, you can appeal via the contact page; appeals are read by a person.

7. Other People's Content

Chat rooms are live and user-generated. We don't pre-screen messages and we aren't responsible for what other users say or share, though we moderate actively and act on reports. You may encounter content you find objectionable; the report function and the block tools exist for exactly that, and using them is always appropriate.

8. The Service Is Provided "As Is"

We work hard to keep the Service fast, available, and pleasant, but it's provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any particular room, feature, or nickname will remain available. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service, or from the conduct or content of any user. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

10. Your Safety and Common Sense

The Service connects you with strangers, and you're responsible for your own interactions. Keep personal information out of public rooms, be careful about what you share privately, and treat anything you broadcast on camera as potentially recordable by others. If you arrange to meet anyone from the Service in person, take the precautions you would with any stranger. Our Community Guidelines include practical safety guidance.

11. Intellectual Property

The Chat Web name, logo, site design, and software are our property or licensed to us, and are protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them without our written permission. Third-party names and marks belong to their owners.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the current version, and continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. For significant changes we'll make reasonable efforts to give notice on the site.

13. Governing Law

These Terms, and any dispute arising from them or the Service, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction — except that if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also rely on the courts and applicable consumer law of your home nation.

14. Contact
